Brunswick shooting leaves woman injured, man arrested

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says this happened just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of West Chase Court.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One person is recovering from injuries following an overnight shooting, authorities say.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported an incident occurring shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday near West Chase Court, where they discovered a man in his mid-20s with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

According to the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit, the victim was walking in the vicinity when an unidentified individual approached and fired multiple shots at him before fleeing the location.

In an interview with detectives, the injured man was not able to describe the suspect.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department took the victim to a local hospital. He remains in stable condition and is actively cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Officers are on the scene looking for potential witnesses, evidence and surveillance video.
