Man hospitalized after being shot multiple times on Jacksonville's Westside

A man in his 30s is recovering after being shot multiple times in the early hours of Thursday morning on the Westside of Jacksonville, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO Sgt. Mitlyng, officers were dispatched to Columbus Avenue at approximately 2:50 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the man with several gunshot wounds. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement officials conducted a thorough search of the area in hopes of locating witnesses to the shooting. However, Sgt. Mitlyng mentioned that no witnesses have been found and there is currently no information available regarding the suspect’s identity.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with potential information about this incident to reach out via their non-emergency line at 904-630-0500. For those wishing to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

Detectives canvassed the area for witnesses, but none were found, Mitlyng said. He added that there is currently no description of the suspect.
