Jaxson Dart aced his first Giants test with his biggest still to come

Jaxson Dart passed his initial test with the Giants, but bigger challenges lie ahead.

The Giants are optimistic that in the future, they’ll look back at the last couple of months, identify a few key trial-and-error moments, and as a team, recognize that the early glimpses of Jaxson Dart’s growth were just the beginning of his rise as a true NFL quarterback.

From the evening of April 24, when the Giants made a strategic move up in the draft to pick Dart at number 25 in the first round, the 22-year-old has consistently impressed. It’s not that every throw was perfect or every play read correctly, but at this moment, those details aren’t the Giants’ primary concern.

Initially, the Giants were very fond of Dart, and their appreciation has only grown as they’ve watched him firsthand on their practice fields, in strategy sessions, and interacting with his teammates in the locker room.

“I feel like I’ve made tremendous strides especially from my first day to now, just being able to understand the pictures of the offense and whatnot,’’ Dart said Wednesday as the Giants finished up their two-day mandatory minicamp. “Obviously, I have to dive into a lot more but I’m definitely just trying to take it to the next level over the summer. Really just lock in, hone in on as much as I can throughout this time, so that way when I get back for training camp, I’m on an even better level than I’m now.’’
