William Stevenson, known as the ex-husband of former First Lady Jill Biden, faces grave charges after being accused of murdering his current wife, according to officials on Tuesday.
Authorities in Delaware’s New Castle County reported that the 77-year-old Stevenson was apprehended on Monday and is now facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of Linda Stevenson.

Police were alerted to a domestic disturbance on December 28, where they discovered Linda Stevenson in an unresponsive state. Despite immediate efforts, she was declared deceased at the scene, as per the authorities’ report.
Following her death, Linda Stevenson’s remains were sent to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to undergo an autopsy, although officials have not yet disclosed the cause of death.
After being pronounced dead, her body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
Authorities did not list a cause of death on Tuesday.

Stevenson was arrested following an “extensive weeks-long investigation,” police said.
A grand jury indicted Stevenson on Monday. He was taken to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $500,000.00 cash bail.
Fox News Digital reached out to the office of Joe and Jill Biden, but they did not immediately respond.
The former first lady married Stevenson in 1970 when she was 18 and attending the University of Delaware, and he was 23, according to reports.

The couple were married for five years before they divorced. She eventually went on to marry then-Senator Joe Biden.
