Freddie Stroma, currently recognized for his roles as Prince Friedrich in “Bridgerton” and Adrian Chase/Vigilante in “Peacemaker,” first captivated a previous audience as Cormac McLaggen, a Gryffindor student in the “Harry Potter” series. Although he didn’t appear until “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth film in the iconic franchise, his character quickly became noteworthy. Cormac McLaggen plays a pivotal role in a love triangle, being a year senior to the series’ beloved Golden Trio.

McLaggen is portrayed as a self-assured Quidditch player, vying with Ron Weasley for the Keeper spot on the Gryffindor team. As team captain, Harry Potter faces a tough choice, given McLaggen’s undeniable talent paired with his overconfidence. However, Hermione Granger simplifies Harry’s dilemma by casting a Confundus Charm on McLaggen, causing him to underperform during tryouts, thus securing Ron’s position on the team. Despite McLaggen’s persistent pursuit of Hermione, she only attends the Slughorn Christmas party with him to provoke Ron, who is dating Lavender Brown at the time. Their relationship never blossoms, as McLaggen proves too self-involved and Hermione shows no genuine interest.

Stroma isn’t the only “Harry Potter” alum to feature in “Bridgerton.” Regé-Jean Page, who starred as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in the show’s first season, made a brief appearance in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.” He was an extra at Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s wedding, standing near Hermione Granger and Molly Weasley when a crucial Patronus message about the Ministry of Magic’s fall disrupts the festivities.

Katie Leung, known for her role as Cho Chang starting in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” is set to join “Bridgerton” in its fourth season. She will portray Lady Araminta Gun, the stepmother of Sophie, the new lead and love interest of Benedict Bridgerton. This marks a significant shift from her portrayal of the reserved Cho, as her new role is part of a “Cinderella” retelling. With two more seasons of “Bridgerton” on the horizon, there’s potential for more “Harry Potter” actors to transition from the magical realm to the high society of the Ton.

Freddie Stroma isn’t the only former Harry Potter cast member to join the Bridgerton ensemble

Freddie Stroma isn’t the only “Harry Potter” cast member to join the “Bridgerton” ensemble. Regé-Jean Page, known for playing Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in the first season, is an extra in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1,” appearing as a guest at Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s wedding. He even stands next to Hermione Granger and Molly Weasley when the important Patronus message informing everyone of the fall of the Ministry of Magic appears in the middle of the celebration.

Katie Leung, who portrays Cho Chang starting in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” joins “Bridgerton” in Season 4 as Lady Araminta Gun, stepmother to new leading lady and love interest of Benedict Bridgerton, Sophie. Their love story is a “Cinderella” retelling, which means Leung is taking on a drastically different role than the shy Cho. With two more seasons of “Bridgerton” on the way, there’s always the possibility additional actors will make the jump from the wizarding world to the Ton.
