CHICAGO (WLS) — The Chicago Pride Parade is this Sunday.

It kicks off in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, which is one of the most welcoming areas for the LGBTQ+ community in the Midwest.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

It’s also the community featured in the most current edition of Val Warner’s “Neighborhood Walk.”

Warner’s Lakeview tour guide was award-winning journalist Cody LaGrow.

Lakeview is a vibrant and diverse North Side community south of Uptown and north of Lincoln Park.

Lakeview is known for iconic Wrigley Field, great restaurants and entertainment venues.

“We’re excited to welcome you. However, the priority is that you can’t arrive in Lakeview looking unkempt. So we need to visit Broadway’s top barbershop for the best ‘fade.’ We’re heading to my barber, Adrian,” LaGrow mentioned. “In my eyes, Lakeview East is a testament to the critics that we can succeed. We can attend church and start our own enterprises.”

The pair walked down Broadway to a men’s boutique that’s been a Lakeview staple for 16 years: CRAM.

They also satisfied their sweet tooth at a local bakery that is all about Pride: Chicago Sugar Daddy.

LaGrow will also be on “Windy City Weekend” Friday at 11:30 a.m. on ABC7 Chicago.

VELYKA NOVOSILKA, DONBAS, UKRAINE - MARCH 7: Ukrainian servicemen of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army patrol around the town of Velyka Novosilka, Ukraine March 7, 2023. The frontline around the city of Vuhledar, a strategic rail and road hub south of Bakhmut, resembles an apocalyptic scenario. Destroyed buildings and burned cars are scattered at both sides of the road. There, hidden on basements of abandoned houses, the Ukrainian Volunteer Army hold their positions against relentless attacks by Russian forces. Under the threat of the enemyâs artillery, that echoes through the village, soldiers hold their fortified positions in shifts of 12h. In recent days, they said, they have been able to repel several Russian offensives. (Photo by Ignacio Marin Fernandez/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
