JSO: Man shot while fleeing block party on Jacksonville's Eastside

The victim, a man in his 40s, told police he was at a large block party on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard when the shooting began.

A man in Jacksonville, Florida, is recovering after being shot as he ran away from a large block party on the Eastside of the city Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said around 11:30 p.m., officers were notified that a shooting victim had walked into a local hospital with injuries.

The victim, who is in his 40s, reported to the police that he was attending a sizable block party on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard when gunfire broke out. He was hit in the legs while trying to escape.

Police officers arrived at the 800 block of A. Philip Randolph Boulevard, discovering blood and gun casings at the scene. However, there were no other witnesses who reported a shooting, and no additional 911 calls about the event were made, police stated.

JSO Crime Scene detectives processed the scene and detectives canvassed the area, though no other victims or witnesses have been located.
