JSO: Woman shot in face during argument with boyfriend at apartment in Jacksonville's Argyle Forest area

A shooting incident occurred at Lindsey Terrace Apartments, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

In Jacksonville’s Argyle Forest neighborhood, an early Wednesday morning dispute turned violent, leading to a woman being hospitalized after she was shot in the face. The altercation took place at an apartment complex, involving her boyfriend, authorities said.

Sgt. Christopher Smith from the JSO shared that officers responded to a call shortly after midnight concerning the shooting at 8500 Argyle Business Loop.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a woman in her mid-30s who had sustained a gunshot wound to the face. Fortunately, her injuries are considered non-life-threatening, and she has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Preliminary findings reveal that the woman had been visiting her boyfriend, a man in his 60s, at the time of the incident. An argument escalated, resulting in gunfire, according to Sgt. Smith.

The woman managed to leave the apartment during the chaos and sought help from a security guard, who then contacted 911 for assistance.

“At this time, everybody is detained,” Smith said. “We’re still speaking with everybody, getting the full scope of what happened tonight. But at this time, this is an isolated incident with no further threat to the public.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
