Karl-Anthony Towns' finger injury dwindles to a footnote of Game 3

Karl-Anthony Towns’ injured left ring finger doesn’t appear to be an issue.

Towns wasn’t included on the Knicks injury report on Sunday and practiced fully, according to coach Tom Thibodeau.

Towns suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Celtics’ Game 3 romp, but still finished the game.

He wound up with 21 points and 15 rebounds in 36 minutes.

“He’s fine,” Thibodeau said.

During the game, Towns could be seen shaking his left hand.

He didn’t offer up much detail about the injury after the game.

“I just want to do whatever I can to be out there,” Towns said. “It is what it is. I’m gonna keep finding ways to play, so I ain’t tripping.”

Towns’ 3-point production has been lacking in this series.

He is 1-of-7 in the series after going 12-for-25 against the Pistons in the opening round.

As a team, the Knicks are shooting 33 percent from 3-point range against the Celtics, and taking 31 3s per game.

No team is attempting fewer 3s this round than them.

Thibodeau explained that OG Anunoby’s subdued performances in the last two games were due to the Celtics focusing more on him and the Knicks’ limited transition play.

Anunoby had just seven points in Games 2 and 3 on 3-for-15 shooting.

He exploded for 29 points in Game 1.

“He’s not getting the same room he had in the first game,” Thibodeau said. “He’ll get some baskets.”

Sam Hauser, a reserve forward for the Celtics with a sprained right ankle, has had his status updated to questionable. He has been absent for the last two games of the series following the injury he sustained in the first game.

“He’s getting there. He’s getting better,” Boston coach Joe Mazzulla told reporters. “He’s day to day.”
