Kate McKinnon and Daveed Diggs want to bring "hope" for humanity with new movie 'In the Blink of an Eye'

Kate McKinnon, Rashida Jones, and Daveed Diggs headline the cast of Searchlight Pictures’ latest film, “In the Blink of an Eye.” This cinematic experience explores three distinct narratives that stretch across millennia, each delving into the essence of human relationships and the cycle of life.

In an interview during the 2026 Sundance Film Festival with On The Red Carpet, McKinnon, who portrays Coakley in a futuristic setting, expressed her desire for the audience to leave with a sense of optimism about humanity’s future.

Diggs, embodying the character Greg from the contemporary era, resonated with McKinnon’s outlook. He shared, “I hope it instills a bit of optimism about humanity. We’re navigating through challenging times currently. This film beautifully highlights the wonder of being human and the value of experiences such as falling in love. It is crucial to embrace these concepts more earnestly, acknowledging how we should treasure these moments more deeply.”

To gain further insight into the film’s themes, watch the above interviews with director Andrew Stanton, who discusses his aspirations for audience takeaways from “In the Blink of an Eye.”

The film is set to debut on February 27, available for streaming on Hulu and Hulu via Disney+.

As a note, The Walt Disney Company owns Searchlight Pictures, Hulu, Disney+, and this ABC station.
