New York City's mayoral election: Letters

The Issue: Polls show Zohran Mamdani in the lead as New Yorkers choose their next mayor.

New York City is on the cusp of a potentially historic mayoral election, with Zohran Mamdani, a controversial figure labeled as a communist and accused of sympathizing with terrorists, as well as holding pro-crime and anti-American views, in the spotlight (“Turnout set for record high, giving Cuo edge,” Nov. 3).

Mamdani’s proposed policies have a track record of failure in other contexts. Is it realistic to believe that someone from a privileged background, who lacks private sector experience, possesses the unique solution to implement these effectively now?

Our nation’s founders once warned that the greatest threat to the country would be an uninformed electorate, a warning that seems increasingly relevant today.

Gen Z voters and others, take heed of what you wish for as election day approaches.

If you find time, speak to some Cubans to get an idea of what’s to come with Mamdani before you vote.

Find out why they were desperate to escape Cuba. Find out about the super wealthy politicians in power who preach about equality for the “little people.”

There is only one thing worse than a communist running this city, and that is a communist who does not know what he’s doing.

As a Staten Island resident, I’m aware that our island votes overwhelmingly Republican. But there are times when the results will not justify the means — and this is surely one of them.

A vote for Curtis Silwa, and not the admittedly tarnished Andrew Cuomo, is a vote for the guy we can’t have running our city. As The Post has urged, Staten Islanders, and all other city residents, please get out and vote for Cuomo. He’s the only one who can save us from an antisemitic lunatic.

It’s never been so critical for all New Yorkers to vote in the mayoral election.

Mamdani is a rich kid who’s never had a job and shows his blatant hatred of Jews and America. Cuomo’s an arrogant failure who caused elderly deaths during COVID and couldn’t keep his hands in his pockets around women.

Meanwhile, Sliwa has been protecting New Yorkers for over 40 years on his own dime. He has concrete plans to save the city and details them on his website. A vote for him is a vote for positive change. Take pride in making your vote count.

I enthusiastically contributed to both Sliwa’s 2021 and 2025 campaigns but have agreed with everyone saying he should resign and support Andrew Cuomo over the last two weeks.

I liken his behavior to that of a spoiled brat who disagrees with the questionable third strike call of the umpire and refuses to leave the batter’s box, resulting in his team forfeiting the championship game.

According to Mamdani’s supporters, the day of reckoning is here. They actually believe they’re going to get everything for free.

Thanks to Cuomo, this is the reality. He couldn’t get his head around the idea that he lost the primary and Sliwa had a chance.

It is not a day of reckoning, it’s a day of “wreck”-oning.

To all Republicans living in New York City, I understand how helpless you feel at election time, as our candidate never really stands a chance.

Nobody likes to compromise their principles. However, we must realize what is at stake here.

The lesser of two evils is never a pleasant choice, but allowing a socialist propagandist to be elected mayor of the city would be a great disservice to all New Yorkers.

I can’t bring myself to tell anybody who to vote for, but I think you get my drift.

There was a popular TV show years ago called “Rhoda.” The end of the opening credits is a good message for New York City voters: “Hey, New York, this is your last chance!”

Mamdami will destroy this city. Those endorsing him couldn’t care less about how you live when they go home to gated homes protected by security guards.
