WISE, Va. (WJHL) – The Isaiah 117 House celebrated a new home in an expansion kickoff event on Sunday.
The event aimed to bring awareness of the upcoming development to the Wise, Lee, Scott and Norton area community.
The new residence coming to the area owes its existence to Brandy Martin, a teacher from Wise County. Upon discovering Isaiah 117 House and their mission, she decided to make contact.
“I have personally witnessed children being removed from their homes,” Martin shared. “Once I became aware of Isaiah 117 House, I realized the kids in Wise County could greatly benefit from it.”
Sunday’s gathering, along with activities over the next six months, is designed to raise community awareness about the new home. Rhonda Paulson, the Founder and Executive Director of Isaiah House, expressed their eagerness to engage with local churches and civic groups to spread the word.
Once the awareness stage is complete, they will begin fundraising to raise money for the construction.
According to Paulson, the organization never deliberately sought to expand. However, the current locations exist thanks to community members stepping forward to aid children in foster care.
“Initially, I believed there would be just one house, but God had much grander plans,” Paulson remarked. “He is aware of every child’s plight and desires His people to act as His hands and feet in assisting these children. This vision is set to materialize in our community within a year.”
