We may only be halfway through September, but the latest on-demand movie releases are packed with enough suspense and chills to make it feel like a Halloween film fest. Leading the lineup this week is Bring Them Down, featuring Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott as feuding shepherds in the panoramas of rural Ireland. This compelling revenge drama promises to keep viewers at the edge of their seats. Additionally, The Rule of Jenny Pen offers a gripping experience with John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush helming a psychological thriller.
This week’s releases also include the indie flick Ex-Husbands, showcasing Griffin Dunne as a man coming to terms with life post-divorce after a 35-year marriage. To cope, he embarks on a trip to Mexico and inadvertently becomes part of his son’s bachelor festivities in Tulum.
These are just a sampling of the films available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through several cable providers. Dive into this week’s selections to find more movies available for purchase or rental on demand.
If there is one thing in this world more terrifying than anything else, it’s a haunted doll. We’ve seen them before in movies like Annabelle and M3GAN, and in the new psychological thriller The Rule of Jenny Pen, starring John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush, there’s a new doll in town, and she starts to menace the inhabitants of a nursing home. The eyeless Jenny Pen is not necessarily haunted, but she does inspire Lithgow’s deranged psychopath character to abuse his fellow residents.
Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott star in the new film Bring Them Down, about rival shepherds whose personal grievances spill into a bloody conflict between their families. The film arrives on demand and to MUBI this Friday.
