An active shooter incident at Fort Stewart in Georgia left five soldiers shot. A request for mutual aid shows the building where it happened.
FORT STEWART, Ga. — An emergency dispatch call requesting mutual aid at the scene reveals the location of a shooting at Fort Stewart in Georgia.
Base officials said five soldiers were shot in what they called an “active shooter incident.”
The wounded soldiers were treated on-site at first. Mutual aid was requested afterward.
In the recording, the dispatcher asks for mutual aid at Building 8420, “2nd Brigade.”
Officials had previously said it happened in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.
The building is in the area of Vanguard Road.
Maps show this is near the Dental Clinic 4, the Johnson Gym, the North Troop Medical Center and dining facilities.
The dispatcher reports that there may be up to five patients with numerous others injured, and both emergency medical service trucks from the base are currently on-site.
She says the scene is clear and “everything is secure.”
Officials said the suspect had been apprehended approximately 40 minutes after the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation and there is no additional information on the suspect.
A hospital representative stated that two of the soldiers have been taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. Meanwhile, the remaining three soldiers are receiving medical attention at the Winn Army Community Hospital.
