In a troubling turn of events, a Louisiana educator once celebrated as a “Teacher of the Year” finds herself embroiled in serious legal troubles. Christie Oster, who had been honored as the Teacher of the Year at Broussard Middle School, faces mounting allegations involving inappropriate conduct with a former student.

Initially, Oster faced charges from the Lafayette Police Department for carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with juveniles, which led to a bond set at $50,000. Recently, she was arrested again, this time on a fresh charge of indecent behavior with juveniles, according to reports from KADN. This new charge carries a separate bond of $10,000.

“We actually work in conjunction with the Lafayette Police Department,” Capt. Zac Gerard from the Broussard Police Department shared with Fox News Digital in a phone interview. He noted that the additional charge stemmed from incidents occurring within the Broussard jurisdiction, prompting further legal action.

Authorities confirmed that Oster voluntarily surrendered to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office following the issuance of a warrant. The case continues to unfold, casting a shadow over the accolades previously awarded to the once-celebrated teacher.

As the investigation progresses, the community and those associated with Broussard Middle School are left grappling with the unsettling allegations against a person who had been entrusted with shaping young minds.

Authorities indicated that the accused woman turned herself in to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office on the warrant, the outlet reported.
