Begonia Road shooting in Jacksonville leaves man dead, woman injured

JSO investigators said the woman called 911 around 2:21 a.m., saying she was shot and had shot someone else.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man has died and a woman is recuperating from several gunshot injuries after investigators from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that the two exchanged gunfire early Wednesday morning in a residence on Jacksonville’s Northwest side.

Authorities stated they arrived at the home on the 2800 block of Begonia Road following a 911 call around 2:21 a.m. Wednesday. The call was made by a woman who claimed she had been shot and had also shot another individual.

Officers found the woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and she was taken to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

The man was found with a single gunshot wound to the torso and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police are working to learn the circumstances leading to the shooting, and the relationship between the two.
