A man is in the hospital after police say someone fired about a dozen bullets into a home in Riverview.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is in the hospital after police say someone fired about a dozen bullets into a home.

Police say the victim was sleeping at the time of the attack.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is searching for a shooter who discharged over 10 rounds into a house in the Riverview neighborhood. One of the bullets hit a man in his 20s as he was in bed.

According to police, the shooting happened just before midnight at a home on Lauder Avenue.

Right now, the search is on for the unknown gunman, who may have been in an SUV that stopped in front of the victim’s house before opening fire.

Police say the victim was hit once in the leg. Two other adults and a child were also inside the home at the time but were not hurt.

Sgt. Smith with JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crime Unit says as they process the crime scene, they do not believe the incident was gang-related.

The victim is now in stable condition and is expected to recover from his injuries.

If you have any details about the incident, please reach out to JSO via phone or email. To stay anonymous, you can provide a tip through Crime Stoppers.
