Police: Woman shot at Jacksonville Red Roof Inn hotel; suspect outstanding

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. along West 21st Street.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 30s was critically injured Tuesday night after being shot in the head in Jacksonville’s Moncrief area, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported.

JSO Sgt. Mitlyng informed First Coast News that the sheriff’s office received a ShotSpotter alert around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday about gunfire in the 1300 block of West 21st Street.

A short time later, Mitlyng said JSO received a call about a person shot at the same location.

Upon arriving at the location, officers found the man with a gunshot wound to his head, as stated by Mitlyng. He was promptly transported to a local hospital.

Mitlyng said detectives canvassed the area, but did not find any witnesses of the shooting.
