In the early hours of Saturday morning, a man in his late 20s was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting incident in Jacksonville’s Brooklyn neighborhood. The altercation occurred in a parking lot at a Gate gas station on the 400 block of Park Street, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities revealed that the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest during an argument with a suspect. The confrontation, which unfolded among a group of unidentified individuals, escalated quickly, leading to the tragic shooting.
Responding promptly to reports of gunfire, officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and managed to detain everyone involved. Their swift action ensured that the situation was brought under control without further incident.
JSO said the man, who’s is in his late 20s, was shot in his chest.
Based on the preliminary investigation, JSO said the man and a group of unknown individuals were standing in a parking lot when the victim and suspect got into an altercation, which led to the victim being shot.
Officers were able to arrive shortly after shots were fired and detain all parties involved, JSO said.
This is an isolated incident with no further threat to the public, JSO confirmed.
