The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the victim and suspect were arguing about a “previous dispute” before the victim was shot.

A man is on the mend after being shot in the foot during a dispute at a Wawa on Jacksonville’s Westside early Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO Sgt. Mitlyng, officers responded to the shooting at the Wawa located at 970 Cassat Ave. around 3 a.m.

Mitlyng told First Coast News the victim and suspect got into an argument about a previous dispute, which escalated to the shooting.

Upon their arrival, officers, as stated by Mitlyng, discovered the victim, a man in his 30s, with a gunshot wound to his foot. Mitlyng mentioned that the injury is not life-threatening.

Mitlyng said the man was then taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

“The suspect and victim are known to one another, and this is believed to be an isolated incident,” Mitlyng said.

Mitlyng said the sheriff’s office does not have a description of the suspect.

If anyone has details about the incident, they are encouraged to call JSO’s non-emergency line at 904-630-0500. For those who wish to remain anonymous, information can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
