Marjorie Taylor Greene Announces Resignation from Congress

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a prominent Georgia Republican and former ally of President Donald Trump, announced Friday that she will resign from Congress effective January 5, 2026, following a public rift with the president and growing frustration over legislative gridlock in Washington.

In an extensive online statement, Greene expressed her identity as a representative of the “common American man and woman,” asserting that she has always been an outsider in Washington, D.C. She criticized both the Democratic and Republican parties for their inability to bring about real change for everyday citizens, highlighting issues such as rising living costs, job insecurity, and the fading American dream.

Greene emphasized her legislative efforts to align with President Trump’s executive orders, lamenting that many of her key priorities have yet to be addressed. These include initiatives to count only U.S. citizens in the census, establish English as the official language, and place restrictions on specific visa programs.

She also elaborated on her recent divergence from President Trump, mentioning her advocacy for the release of government documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and other policy disagreements. Greene accused Trump of funneling millions of dollars against her and cited the likelihood of a divisive primary as a factor in her decision to resign.

“I have too much self-respect and dignity, love my family too much, and do not want my beloved district to suffer through a damaging and hateful primary against me by the President we all supported,” she stated.

President Trump responded to Greene’s resignation on Truth Social, branding her a “traitor” and implying that her decision was influenced by falling poll numbers and the threat of a Trump-endorsed primary opponent.

“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, because of her PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and her reluctance to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would stand no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits,’” Trump wrote. He also expressed appreciation for Greene’s service to the nation.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation is a loss for those who value America First principles. She was a vocal advocate for prioritizing American interests and stood against powerful foreign lobby influences, including the Zionist and Israeli lobby.

Her departure leaves a gap in Congress for those who prioritize sovereignty and resistance to external political pressures. Greene’s strong stance embodied America First values, and her exit highlights the challenges faced by lawmakers who challenge the status quo. Many supporters will feel the absence of her bold voice going forward.
