A married teacher facing accusations of engaging in sexual activities with her 15-year-old student approximately 50 times has listed her home for sale due to restrictions preventing her from residing close to her alleged victim.

Christina Formella from Illinois was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old student in March 2025.

The student reportedly approached police alongside his mother to report that she had sexually abused him in a classroom session in December 2023.

The investigation revealed she began grooming the student at age 14 and continued a sexual relationship with him after he turned 15, while she was 28.

She was originally charged during her first court appearance with two counts of sexual abuse and one count of sexual assault.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin then levelled a further 52 counts at the teacher for alleged sexual encounters with the same student.

She faces additional charges including 20 counts of sexual assault, 20 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, six counts of indecent solicitation of a minor, and six counts of grooming.

Formella pleaded not guilty to all charges and has been supported by her husband, who has accompanied her to court hearings.

Now, The U.S. Sun can reveal she is selling her home for $569,000 after she was ordered not to live close to the alleged victim.

Property records show the 1,430-square-foot home has three beds and two bathrooms, and offers hardwood floors throughout the main level.

NEW LOOK

The kitchen boasts ceiling-height cabinets, granite counters, updated appliances, and recessed lighting.

The home features a built-in entertainment unit boasting an LED fireplace, with the family room having a floor-to-ceiling brick gas fireplace.

There is a sub-basement level which is perfect for a home office, gym, or ensuite bedroom apartment.

Formella’s home also has a large cedar deck and private backyard space, a hot tub, and landscaping.

The listing adds that the home is “close to several parks, schools, shopping, and expressways.”

According to court documents, Formella is currently residing with her parents on their golf course property, following the escalation of her charges and the imposition of an ankle monitor.

Her lawyers told the judge that her marital home is within a court-ordered 5,000-foot buffer zone between her and the alleged victim.

She previously petitioned for the buffer zone to be reduced, arguing that the teenager works in the vicinity and socializes with friends near her residence. However, this request was rejected by the judge.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Formella’s lawyer for further comment.

Formella appeared in court earlier this month for a status hearing and threw reporters off after she arrived early with darker hair, almost unrecognizable.

She will next appear in court in October as she prepares for trial.

‘EXTREMELY DISTURBING’

Prosecutors say the boy’s mom discovered texts on his phone that revealed the alleged abuse and prompted her to contact the police.

Formella allegedly told the boy: “I love having sex with you.”

The student allegedly replied: “I know baby I love it so much… It feels so good… It’s so passionate… It’s so intimate… It’s so perfect.”

Robert Berlin said in a statement, “The allegations against Ms. Formella are extremely disturbing.

“It is alleged that she used her position of trust and authority as a tutor and a coach to sexually assault a minor student. The type of abuse and behavior alleged in this case will not be tolerated.

“I thank the Downers Grove Police Department for their efforts on this case and authorities at Downers Grove South High School for their cooperation in this matter.

“I also thank the DuPage County Children’s Center as well as Assistant State’s Attorney Jaclyn McAndrew for her work not only in this case but for their continued efforts protecting our children.”

DeVries also said, “I want to thank our team of detectives for their dedication and thorough investigation of this deeply concerning case.

“The safety and well-being of our children remain our highest priority, and we will take all necessary actions to ensure that anyone engaging in this type of conduct is held accountable.”

MAINTAINING HER INNOCENCE

During her initial police interview, Formella insisted she was innocent but said “everybody” targets her because of her good looks, according to documents obtained by WGN9.

She also claimed to be the victim of a “blackmail” plot, according to the filings.

The document reads: “She claimed that one day, [the boy] had grabbed her phone unattended, had entered her passcode … had sent the message to his phone, had then deleted the message from her phone, and had saved it to his phone as blackmail.”

The accused teacher’s husband and former college sweetheart, Michael Formella, told police he was kept in the dark about what she was accused of.

The two tied the knot last summer, around half a year after the alleged abuse.

He has been by her side during court appearances.

Court documents claim: “Oddly enough, her husband told detectives that he knows nothing about [accuser] beyond his status as a soccer player.”

Formella was seen in shocking footage as she was arrested for allegedly molesting the teenage boy.

Officers approached her in her car as her confused husband looked on, and she began to panic, asking why she was being arrested.
