A young mother was killed, and four juveniles are in police custody following a crash in Maryland involving a stolen car, authorities said.
On Tuesday afternoon, a stolen car was initially noticed by Seat Pleasant Police officers. “An officer followed the vehicle from a distance to avoid alerting the driver while waiting for the Prince George’s County Police Department helicopter unit to arrive,” a press release stated.
“Shortly after, the on-duty commander instructed the officer to stop further pursuit of the vehicle. As the officer headed back towards the city, he encountered a two-car crash involving the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Sheriff Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Highway,” the release indicated.
The individual who died in the crash has been identified only as 30 years old, according to FOX 5 DC. Police informed the local news station that the passenger rescued from the vehicle was aged between 4 and 8 years.
