Enormous hailstones, the size of baseballs, unleashed chaos in Kansas as a powerful storm swept through the area, breaking car windows and inflicting damage on homes.
The colossal hailstones, measuring up to four inches in diameter, descended on Kansas City late Tuesday night.
Astonished residents quickly snapped photos of the gigantic hail, likening the stones to tennis balls and golf balls.
Images shared by KSHB and Fox 4 depicted numerous vehicles with shattered windows and rooftops with missing tiles in the wake of the storm.
“It was bright and sunny, not a cloud in sight, and then suddenly, it rolled in while I was at the drive-through,” resident Christina Peek recounted to Fox 4.
“The hail started while I was waiting, and it turned into a frantic rush to get home. It began with golf-ball-sized hail hitting my car, and then it grew larger and larger until it reached the size of baseballs.”
Another resident, Mackenzie Vincent, said she found large holes in her car windows when she finally managed to inspect the damage.
“I came to look at the car and had the usual dents and stuff,” she said. “Then I got to the back, and it looked like a couple of baseballs had gone through the back windshield.”
