JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Raines Vikings are set to be celebrated like never before.
On Thursday, the Duval County School Board organized a special celebration at Raines High School to honor the team’s impressive achievement of winning their fourth state championship. The event was graced by prominent figures, including Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan.
During her speech, Mayor Deegan highlighted that “Raines football stands for more than just the scoreboard.” She emphasized its significance in terms of family, legacy, and the pride of Northwest Jacksonville.
Mayor Deegan also remarked that when the Vikings played, they carried the spirit of all of Jacksonville with them, making the community immensely proud.
The mayor then bestowed the school with a city key, expressing her hope that it will find a place of honor alongside the team’s trophies. She also unveiled a mayoral proclamation declaring December 18, 2025, as “Raines Viking State Championship Day,” which was met with enthusiastic applause from the students.
Shortly after Deegan’s speech, a representative with the Jacksonville Jaguars presented Head Coach Donovan Masline with two tickets to Super Bowl LX.
