A Mexican national, Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, 47, who was involved in a fatal crash in Colorado last year while driving a semi-truck, was apprehended by federal immigration authorities on Sunday.
Upon his release from jail, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents took Cruz-Mendoza into custody in the lobby of the Jefferson County Detention Center at approximately 8:30 a.m., according to a report by Denver7.
Cruz-Mendoza was the driver of a semi-truck involved in a June 2024 crash on Highway 285, which left one man dead.

Following his detention, Cruz-Mendoza was taken to the ICE Denver Contract Detention Facility, where he is awaiting deportation from the United States.
