AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has provided information on its preparations to ensure a “safe and festive” Fourth of July celebration in Augusta.

The annual City of Augusta Independence Day Celebration is scheduled for Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Augusta Common. The festivities are set to commence at 5 p.m., with the fireworks display beginning around 9:30 p.m., launched from the Riverwalk between 8th and 9th Streets.

The sheriff’s office announced plans to deploy about 65 plainclothes officers in the downtown event area, in addition to road patrol deputies and other personnel throughout the county. Additionally, at least two deputies will be stationed on each downtown block until 3 a.m.

In addition to RCSO, the Augusta Fire Department, Central EMS, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia and South Carolina Departments of Natural Resources, and North Augusta Public Safety are expected to be on hand to assist with emergency response and public safety operations.

Traffic updates can be found RCSO social media channels.

Any lost children will be taken to Room 102 of the Riverwalk Special Events Building.

“Our team, along with our public safety partners, will be out in full force to ensure this is a fun, family-friendly evening for everyone,” said Sheriff Eugene Brantley.
