The fugitive former Army sergeant accused of fatally shooting four people at a Montana bar may return to the scene of the “heinous” crime, raising “public concern,” warned the state’s attorney general.

Michael Brown, 45, remains missing following the Friday morning shooting at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, which resulted in the deaths of Daniel Edwin Baillie, 59, Nancy Lauretta Kelley, 64, David Allen Leach, 70, and Tony Wayne Palm, 74.

“We have immense cooperation from Homeland Security, federal partners, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshal Service. We are determined to locate this individual. He poses a significant danger, having committed an egregious act against this community and the victims,” stated Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen.

“There is definitely concern he might return to town. Indications suggest he is unstable, having walked in and killed four individuals in cold blood without any apparent motive. So the public’s safety is indeed a concern,” Knudsen continued.

Montana authorities have identified the four victims shot when a man fired at a bar on Friday morning: Daniel Edwin Baillie, 59; Nancy Lauretta Kelley, 64; Tony Wayne Palm, 74; and David Allen Leach, 70.

Brown served as an armor crewman in the Army from January 2001 to May 2005, confirmed Army Public Affairs to Fox News Digital. He was deployed to Iraq from February 2004 to March 2005, departing the service at the rank of sergeant.

He also served as an armor crewman in the Montana National Guard from April 2006 to March 2009, officials said.

Knudsen said at one point this weekend, over 250 boots were on the ground in the manhunt for Brown.

“We’re exploring every option here. Could he have committed suicide or be dead? Yep. But we are acting under the assumption that he is alive, well-armed, and extremely dangerous,” Knudsen added.
