Over 700 arrested amid major gang and drug crackdown in Louisiana

In a concerted effort to combat violent crime and drug-related activities in Louisiana, law enforcement agencies at federal, state, and local levels have been actively pursuing and arresting offenders. This extensive initiative has led to a significant number of arrests and the confiscation of illicit drugs.

Spanning several months, this operation has focused on dismantling violent gangs and drug networks across the Bayou State. As reported, the crackdown resulted in 742 arrests and the seizure of numerous firearms and drugs, including the highly dangerous fentanyl.

Beginning in October, the operation successfully recovered 176 firearms and a substantial quantity of narcotics. The collaborative initiative underscores the commitment of law enforcement to curtail the activities of criminal organizations operating within Louisiana.

FBI New Orleans' Jonathan Tapp and others

FBI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge, Jonathan Tapp, highlighted the strategic approach taken by law enforcement. “By concentrating enforcement efforts in high-crime areas, we have managed to remove drug dealers, violent gangs, and criminals from our streets,” Tapp stated. He further emphasized the focus on dismantling the operational structures of drug cartels and gangs, including their supply chains and financial networks.

Zachary A. Keller, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana, praised the collaborative efforts of the involved agencies. “This operation is a testament to the strength of federal, state, and local law enforcement partnerships in breaking down violent criminal networks,” Keller noted. He reiterated the ongoing commitment to holding those responsible for trafficking deadly drugs and firearms accountable for their actions.

In a statement obtained by Fox News Digital, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana Zachary A. Keller said, “This operation demonstrates the power of federal, state, and local law enforcement working together to dismantle violent criminal networks. The arrests and seizures we’ve made highlight the serious threat posed by cartel‑connected trafficking in Louisiana, and we will continue to hold those who bring deadly drugs and firearms into our communities accountable.”

FBI New Orleans noted in a Monday post on X, “The FBI and local, state, and federal partners from Central and North Louisiana announce the end of a four month operation targeting violent, drug dealing gangs. More than 700 arrests were made statewide along with the seizure of more than 100 firearms, nearly 300 pounds of illegal narcotics, and more than $250,000 in cash. The power of #Partnerships in action.”

“We’re getting the job done with intelligence – surveillance – and leads that we’re getting from the community,” Tapp said, according to the press release. “Our agents and task force officers are using their collective knowledge and expertise to stop criminal activity in its tracks. These aren’t just investigations or statistics for us. We eat, sleep, and breathe violent crime. We are committed to making New Orleans one of the safest places in the country.”
