Roger Moore and his wife Kristina Tholstrup must have left a memorable impression as they attended the Venice Film Festival wearing harmonized outfits.

The 85-year-old James Bond actor and Kristina, 71, who is known as Kiki, were spotted stepping off their taxi boat in the Italian city on Monday.

The pair were hand in hand as they sauntered down the wooden decking towards their venue dressed in the exact same shade of lilac.

Roger, who has starred in numerous films throughout his career, appeared thrilled to be returning to the festival held at the Venice Lido, which features four distinct cinema theaters scattered across the location.

He was sporting a fetching lilac blazer, with a slightly lighter shade of lilac for his shirt, a pair of white chino trousers and white trainers.

The actor accessorised with a fedora hat, which he held in his hand, a pair of aviator shades and a white leather belt.

Moore’s third wife, Kristina opted for a knee-length lilac dress, a pair of black and pink leather pumps, and a white straw fedora with black trim.

The Danish-Swedish multimillionaire complemented her look with a coordinating cross necklace, drop earrings adorned with turquoise butterflies, a pink Chanel handbag, and a pair of dark sunglasses.

Her short silver hair was elegantly styled and her toned pins were sun-kissed from a summer of sunshine.

The pre-opening of the Festival takes place on Tuesday at the Campo San Polo Arena in Venice featuring the screening of Le mani sulla città (Hands Over the City, 1963) by Francesco Rosi.

Directed by Alberto Barbera, the 70th festival will run from August 28 to September 7.

The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms.

The jury will award prizes for feature-length films, including the Golden Lion for Best Film, the Silver Lion for Best Director and a new award, the Grand Jury Prize.

Opening the ceremony this year is non-competition film, Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuarón and stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

A total of twenty films will vie for the coveted Golden Lion at the world’s oldest film festival, and include Terry Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem, starring Christoph Waltz as a reclusive computer genius, and Peter Landesman’s Parkland, which looks into what happened at Dallas’ Parkland hospital the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Director Alberto Barbera announced Thursday that this year’s film line-up are bleak in their outlook.

‘Perhaps one of the strongest themes that emerges from all the films is the lack of prospects. There’s an acknowledgment of an extremely problematic situation, in some cases tragic,’ Barbera told a news conference.

‘Cinema mirrors reality, so we can’t complain if auteur films today gives us an image of our times that is not consoling.’
