In a recent encounter with reporters, President Donald Trump addressed the troubling news of Savannah Guthrie’s mother’s disappearance in Arizona, marking his first public comments on the matter. Following the signing of a bill to end the week’s partial government shutdown, Trump expressed his concern, stating, “I think it’s terrible.” He assured that federal law enforcement would be deployed to the Tucson area to aid in the investigation. Promising further action, Trump mentioned, “I’m going to call her later on,” referring to Guthrie, and noted his positive rapport with the Today Show host.
TMZ Receives Alleged Bitcoin Ransom Note
The situation has been described by Trump as “very unusual,” and he committed to uncovering the truth behind the incident. Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, was reportedly taken from her bed in the middle of the night on Saturday, as relayed by the lead investigator to the Daily Mail. She was declared missing on Sunday when she failed to attend her regular church service. Adding to the tension, TMZ reported on Tuesday that a ransom note demanding millions in bitcoin for Nancy’s safe return had been received.
In a related development, Fox News Channel secured a recording of the 911 call that initiated the search for Nancy, highlighting her critical health concerns. The dispatcher warned, “Nancy has high blood pressure, a pacemaker, and cardiac issues.” Authorities have since made a heartfelt appeal to her kidnappers, urging them to release Nancy to prevent potentially life-threatening health complications due to her lack of medication.
‘We have someone’s life who is in jeopardy,’ Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Tuesday. Nanos also said the DNA found at Nancy’s house belonged to her. So far, no evidence collected at the site has yielded a suspect. Nancy lives in the Catalina Foothills, a community located north of Tucson in Pima County, Arizona.
Savannah Guthrie Posts Plea for Prayers as Search For Mother Continues
Guthrie has been absent from the Today Show amid the crisis. On Monday, she put a post up on social media asking followers to ‘please pray’ and to ‘bring her home.’ ‘We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him,’ she wrote. ‘Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment,’ the anchor said.
‘We need you,’ she said, including a Bible verse from the book of Isaiah. Guthrie’s last interview with Trump was the widely publicized NBC town hall during the fall of the 2020 presidential campaign, when she aggressively questioned him on COVID-19, QAnon, masks, and conspiracy retweets.
