A tragic incident that shook the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago last November is once again in the spotlight as the man accused of taking the lives of a father and son prepares to face a judge. The court appearance is scheduled for Friday morning, marking a significant moment in the case that has left a community grieving.

The victims, 63-year-old Faustino Alamo Dominguez and his 25-year-old son Luis Alamo, were fatally shot on November 8th, around 5:45 p.m., right outside their family jewelry store, Joyeria Angelos, located on the 3800-block of 26th Street. The incident has left a deep scar in a neighborhood where the Alamos were known for their dedication and community involvement.

Eyewitnesses and local residents describe the heartbreaking effort of the father-son duo to defend their beloved business. Agustin Alamo, a nephew and cousin to the victims, expressed the profound sense of loss that has gripped the community, stating, “We were begging, we were literally praying that justice needs to be served. This is absolutely a devastating loss. My family members, my uncle and cousin, were literally pillars of the community in Little Village.”

The chilling surveillance footage from that fateful evening captures the moments leading up to the tragedy. A man, concealed by a mask and hoodie, is seen entering the store. Within half a minute, he bolts out with stolen goods, pursued by Faustino and Luis in a desperate attempt to recover their merchandise.

As the court proceedings begin, the community’s demand for justice echoes louder than ever, a testament to the impact the Alamos had on those around them. Their loss is not just a personal tragedy for the family but a communal one, as neighbors and friends remember the duo not only for their entrepreneurial spirit but also for their unwavering commitment to their community.

About 30 seconds later, he comes running out with stolen merchandise as the father and son chase after him.

Agustin told ABC7 that he feels a sense of relief that someone is behind bars for the killings, and he grateful for the community’s support over these very difficult months.

“We just wanna say, ‘Thank you,’ from the bottom of our hearts. We want to say ‘Thank you, thank you so much for all the love all the support, all the encouragement,’ because again, these months haven’t been easy for us as a family,” he said. “And justice will be served.”

Thomas has been extradited to Chicago and is expected to appear at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse later Friday.
