The continuous stream of dubious activities linked to the former First Son, Mr. Hunter Biden, seems to persist without rest. Recently, a new Hunter Biden venture has surfaced, reminiscent of a cockroach emerging from a decaying log; this time, it’s a plan involving the sale of land surrounding the United States Embassy in Romania to a consortium including Chinese investors.
Yes, really.
During his father’s tenure as vice president, Joseph R. Biden Jr., Hunter Biden began forging connections that culminated in a bold initiative to sell the land adjacent to the United States Embassy in Romania to a group that involved a Chinese corporation.
Hunter Biden was intertwined in the proposed transaction from several angles, creating what he acknowledged to an associate was an ethical predicament, as revealed by documents and four individuals knowledgeable about the situation who spoke anonymously.
Despite years of probes and a federal prosecutor’s implication that Mr. Biden’s activities in Romania made him susceptible to foreign lobbying allegations, the complete narrative of his operations there has only now come to light. Newly uncovered details illustrate how Mr. Biden’s pursuit of profitable foreign deals meshed with the larger foreign influence network and complicated U.S. diplomatic efforts.
This all distills down to essentially, “Hunter Biden was leveraging his connections for profit through questionable dealings, banking off his last name.”
The venture he was chasing opened the potential for the Chinese to acquire a stake in a crucial asset — the land around the embassy in Bucharest, and potentially the location of the embassy itself. This prospect troubled one of his former partners, who aimed to avert this possibility at the time, while another partner subsequently dismissed the notion that such an outcome was ever possible.
The chapter fits into a well-worn playbook used by deep-pocketed foreign interests to seek favor in Washington by courting politically connected Americans, including presidential family members like the adult sons of President Trump or the son and brother of former President Jimmy Carter.
You don’t say.
This smacks a lot of treacherous indifference on the part of the son of a former vice president and former president, and some of these deals were in the works when old “Autopen Joe” was in office, either as VP or president. While Joe Biden spent most of his four years in the White House trying to tie his shoes and follow the white tape on the floor to find his way to the presidential bathroom, his son clearly spent a lot of time during those four years engaging in graft-for-profit, even down to and including his “art” career. Indeed, that last bit might be the most egregious; most of Hunter’s artwork looked like what you would get if you gave a bunch of paint to a chimpanzee and surrounded him with canvas, and yet they mysteriously sold for huge sums.
