'Bob's Burgers' actor Eugene Mirman rescued from fiery crash by New Hampshire governor's detail

BEDFORD, N.H. — In a harrowing turn of events, Eugene Mirman, the beloved voice actor and comedian known for his work on “Bob’s Burgers,” was involved in a severe car accident. The incident unfolded when Mirman’s electric vehicle collided with a toll plaza, resulting in a fiery wreck. Fortunately, a state trooper assigned to the security detail of New Hampshire’s Governor, Kelly Ayotte, was nearby and played a crucial role in rescuing Mirman from the blaze.

The crash occurred just before noon on Tuesday as Mirman traveled northbound through the Bedford Toll Plaza, according to the New Hampshire State Police. Promptly arriving at the scene, Governor Ayotte and her security team witnessed the aftermath. Demonstrating quick thinking and bravery, a state trooper, along with two other individuals, extracted Mirman from the burning vehicle through a window. State Police Colonel Mark Hall mentioned that Governor Ayotte, who had also exited her vehicle to grab a fire extinguisher, was never in any direct danger during the incident.

On Wednesday, Mirman’s agent, Jay Glassner, released a statement confirming the accident. “Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Glassner stated. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders, and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”

Colonel Hall lauded the rescuers’ decisive actions, describing them as “heroic.” He remarked, “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”

Authorities identified the driver as 51-year-old Yevgeny Mirman from Massachusetts. Originally hailing from Moscow, Mirman relocated to Massachusetts during his childhood. He has gained considerable recognition for his role as Gene Belcher, the musically inclined middle child in over 300 episodes of the animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” as well as in its feature film. His talents also extend to roles in “Flight of the Conchords,” “Delocated,” and “Archer.”
