Nicole Kidman returned to her trademark long hairstyle at the Academy of Country Music Awards 2025 on Thursday, amidst rumors that she donned a pixie-length wig for the Met Gala 2025.
Kidman attended the major country music event in Texas with her husband, Keith Urban, sporting an elegant black leather halter top paired with tailored pants featuring a wraparound skirt detail and matching heels.
Her hair was styled long and fell down around her shoulders as she posed alongside Urban on the red carpet.
Urban matched the Oscar winner’s vibe in head-to-toe black velvet, including black platform shoes.
Kidman’s glam hair transformation was a sharp contrast to the ultra-short hair she showed off at Monday’s massive fashion event in New York.
During the blue carpet event at fashion’s most prominent night, the “Nine Perfect Strangers” actress showcased a two-tone ultra-short style, with longer, lightly curled bangs in the front, contrasting dark hair underneath, and honey blonde on top.
She paired the glam with a sweeping, strapless black Balenciaga gown with a drop waist and a flared skirt. She accessorized with diamond-encrusted earrings.
In compliance with the event’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the “Babygirl” actress’ hair was styled by celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel.
According to a press release explaining the hairstyle, Abergel created the short look because it “brought out the essence of Dandyism” by “honoring the Dandies and their individuality, elegance, and confidence—where every detail is tailored to that unique person.”
The Met Gala wouldn’t have been the first time the mom of four wigged out for an event.
According to Vulture, the stunning actress has returned time and again to wigs to help her completely embody characters in her films.
Most recently, she wore a hairpiece for “Nine Perfect Strangers,” in which she plays spiritual guru Masha Dmitrichenko.
She also relied on wigs to bring to life Virginia Woolf in “The Hours,” to show off the ultimate pixie look in 2004’s “Birth” and to literally become a terrified 1940s mother in “The Others.”
While she’s rarely opened up about her panoply of hairpieces, Kidman did once regret straightening her naturally curly locks.
“I had ‘that’ hair,” she once lamented, according to Refinery29. “I shouldn’t have abused my hair. I loved that hair. What was I thinking?”
Kidman added, “I’m working on getting that hair again.”
