You have to give credit to the Trump team – they are certainly taking advantage of their portrayal on “South Park” this week in an episode centered around ICE.
The show wasn’t funny, as I reported:
The storyline featured guidance counselor Mr. Mackey deciding to join ICE for financial reasons after getting terminated from South Park Elementary. The show depicted ICE as having no hiring standards and appearing to only target people of color, even pursuing them into heaven. They even used the phrase, “If you’re brown, you’re going down,” from DHS head Kristi Noem, and showed Mackey being invited to Mar-a-Lago, which “South Park” imagines as a hub of indulgence. My description is more amusing than the show itself. Sadly, this type of content won’t help them maintain their relevance after 27 years.
But Vice President JD Vance had a little fun in his response to his depiction as “Tattoo” from “Fantasy Island.”
The DHS’s approach to the episode is clever—turning it back on the creators with humor while also subtly sharing more of the underlying reality. It’s not about targeting “brown people”—it’s focused on law enforcement for the protection of American citizens.
ICE agents are the good guys in this drama, not the leftists who would demonize or attack them.
