VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A man from North Carolina, aged 56, is facing legal charges after allegedly defrauding a woman in Volusia County out of $30,000, as reported by Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

According to the sheriff’s post on social media, a 70-year-old woman from Volusia County parted with $60,000, including $30,000 in cash, as a result of replying to an email about an injured military dog.

Authorities revealed that Cory Ray Woodall of Oxford, North Carolina, persuaded the woman into believing she was aiding a retired Army general to return to the United States.

Woodall then is accused of using they money to purchase car, a mower and a trailer.

The social media post proclaimed, “We not only caught another con artist, but we also brought him back to confront the victim he deceived out of $30,000.” In an attached video, the woman and Sheriff Chitwood are seen confronting the man inside a vehicle.

“How many other people did you spend their money?” the woman asks Woodall.

Officials did not state what happened to the remaining $30,000, but at one point in the video, Chitwood asks where the Bitcoin was transferred to.

Another Internet scammer is welcomed into the criminal justice system by @SheriffChitwood:

“Not only did we catch another scumbag fraud artist, we brought him back here to face the woman he took for $30,000.

“To others involved in this scam, we’re coming after you next,” the post concluded.

An arrest report for Woodall was not available as of this writing, but we will update the story as more details are releases.

Woodall was taken to the Volusia County jail where he faces charges of organized scheme to defraud and grand theft.
