10-time Olympic medalist Caeleb Dressel joining Sporting JAX Aquatic Club

Dressel, hailing from Green Cove Springs, is about to reconnect with one of his longtime mentors, Steve Jungbluth, in a bid to enhance Jacksonville’s sports scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Caeleb Dressel, a nine-time Olympic gold medalist originally from Green Cove Springs, will be joining the Sporting JAX Aquatic Club as he gears up for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the club announced on Thursday.

“Dressel, native to Northeast Florida, will reunite with his longtime coach, Steve Jungbluth, at Sporting JAX, rekindling the collaboration that drove Dressel to both NCAA and world-record-breaking achievements,” stated Sporting JAX in a press release.

Considered one of the best swimmers in history, Dressel boasts 10 Olympic medals, numerous world championship victories, and holds various world records.

“I’m incredibly thrilled to embark on this new journey with Sporting JAX,” Dressel mentioned in the release. “Growing up in Northeast Florida, and having the chance to train with Steve as we aim for Los Angeles is truly meaningful. I appreciate the chance to work with this club’s athletes and families and to pass on my love for swimming to the future generation.”

According to Sporting JAX, Dressel’s involvement is anticipated to boost the “community-first” sports organization, further advancing Jacksonville’s sporting reputation. Meanwhile, members of the Sporting JAX Aquatics Club will gain the opportunity to learn from Dressel both in the pool and beyond.

“Caeleb’s return to Northeast Florida is a moment of pride for our entire community,” Steve Jungbluth said in the release. “Sporting JAX is committed to supporting Caeleb in his drive towards world class excellence as he prepares for the 2028 Games. Additionally, his presence will enhance the overall competitiveness of the Sporting JAX Aquatic Club and elevate the level of excellence across our programs. Beyond the pool, Caeleb will bolster Jacksonville’s standing as a premier sports community, inspiring athletes throughout the region to push harder and aim higher.”
