(WPHL) – OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, was experiencing outages on Tuesday morning.
“At present, we are encountering difficulties,” states a notification on OpenAI’s status site, which acknowledges the presence of “increased error occurrences.”
“We have pinpointed the source of the problem leading to heightened errors and delays across the specified services,” the message went on, citing ChatGPT, Sora (OpenAI’s tool for generating videos), and its application programming interfaces (APIs).
According to DownDetector, users began notifying issues with ChatGPT shortly before 3 a.m. ET. The reports surged as the morning progressed.
OpenAI is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Last month, the company recruited Jony Ive, the designer behind Apple’s iPhone, to lead a new hardware project for the artificial intelligence company that makes ChatGPT. OpenAI hasn’t said exactly what product they will be making, but some speculate the company will be focusing on bringing generative AI chatbot technology out of computer screens into another form, such as through a car, humanoid robot or the AI-powered glasses, the Associated Press reported.
