Jason Leonard Blount, 52, faces three counts of felony first-degree sexual battery in three rape cases from 2000 to 2002.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities have announced that three significant cases have been resolved following the arrest of an Orlando resident for a string of unsolved sexual assaults in Jacksonville dating back over two decades.
Per arrest records from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, 52-year-old Jason Leonard Blount is being charged with three counts of felony first-degree sexual battery in connection with two rape cases from 2000 and one from 2002.
The reports say the assaults took place in March 2000, April 2000 and September 2002.
The police reported that Blount was recently apprehended in Orange County on theft charges. Upon his booking, deputies collected his DNA, which was then matched in a database to the cases in Jacksonville.
A JSO Special Assault Unit Cold Case detective “developed enough probable cause” to charge Blount.

The first victim said she were assaulted while on a jog around a Southside apartment complex, the report states.
The second victim was in the parking lot of an apartment complex, loading her car for a trip, when the suspect approached her, according to the report.
The third victim said the suspect followed them into their apartment and asked to use the victim’s phone before the assault, the report states.
“Our hearts go out to the women Blount brutally victimized,” JSO wrote in a social media post Monday. “We will work with the State Attorney’s Office to bring him the harshest punishment possible and make sure he doesn’t do this again.”
Investigators believe there could be more victims in Jacksonville and Orlando. Anyone who knows anything is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
Blount was arrested July 1 and is currently being held on no bond at the Duval County Jail. He is slated to be arraigned July 23 in Duval County Court.
