Approximately 40 passengers from Israel experienced a lengthy detainment at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport on Monday. They were held for several hours before ultimately being allowed entry into Russia, thanks to the intervention of Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
In a statement to JNS on Tuesday, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson explained, “Upon learning of the situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the directive of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, engaged with the foreign ministry in Moscow and the Russian embassy in Israel. This intervention successfully resolved the matter, allowing the Israelis to enter the country.”
The spokesperson further emphasized, “We made it clear to Russian authorities that this behavior is entirely unacceptable, and Israel is taking this incident very seriously.”
