LONDON — The death certificate of Ozzy Osbourne reveals that he passed away from a heart attack and also had coronary artery disease, having battled Parkinson’s disease for many years.
The document, filed at a register office in London and acquired by The New York Times on Tuesday, confirms that Osbourne, who died on July 22 at the age of 76, was suffering from coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease.
The Associated Press reached out to the registry office in Hillingdon Council in northwest London for verification, as this is the area where the Black Sabbath singer was reportedly pronounced dead. However, there was no immediate response. Similarly, Osbourne’s representatives did not promptly respond to the AP’s email inquiries for comments.
The certificate was submitted by Osbourne’s daughter, Aimée Osbourne, as reported by The New York Times. It states that Osbourne died from “(a) Out of hospital cardiac arrest (b) Acute myocardial infarction (c) Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (Joint Causes).”
Osbourne, who also became an unexpected reality TV personality, disclosed in 2020 that he had Parkinson’s disease following a fall. His family, announcing his passing, requested privacy and mentioned that family members surrounded him at the time of his death.
Fans traveled from all over the country to pay tribute to him in his hometown of Birmingham last week. Just weeks prior to his passing, Osbourne performed his last show there, captivating audiences as he performed seated on a black throne.
“I don’t know what to say, man, I’ve been laid up for like six years. You have no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Osbourne said during his performance. “You’re all … special. Let’s go crazy, come on.”
