Palestinian immigrant convicted of second murder-for-hire plot hatched from North Carolina cell

A federal jury in North Carolina has found a Palestinian immigrant guilty of orchestrating a plan to have three individuals killed by his fellow inmates. This conviction comes after he previously admitted to attempting to murder others, as reported by authorities on Friday.

Nahro Sudoi Innab, a 70-year-old resident of Rocky Mount, NC, was convicted on three counts related to making interstate calls for a murder-for-hire operation, according to the Department of Justice.

“This individual came to America in pursuit of the American dream, yet he has persistently tried to hire criminals to eliminate those he considered adversaries,” remarked Ellis Boyle, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

At the time of his new offenses, Innab was already in custody, awaiting the start of a sentence for a different murder-for-hire attempt. While incarcerated, he attempted to pay fellow inmates $10,000 to assassinate three men.

The targets of this deadly scheme were reportedly small business owners in Rocky Mount. A cooperating inmate alerted the FBI and managed to record audio evidence of Innab’s lethal intentions.

The intended victims were Rocky Mount small business owners, federal prosecutors said. A cooperating defendant informed the FBI of the plot and captured an audio recording of Innab’s murderous plan.

“Even after being federally charged, arrested, and pleading guilty to a murder for hire plot, Nahro Innab continued his demented and dangerous plans,” said James C. Barnacle Jr., the FBI Special Agent in Charge in North Carolina.

Barnacle said a coordinated law enforcement effort thwarted the multiple murder plots, adding that Innab will be “safely behind prison bars for years to come.”
