PAWS Chicago’s Disaster Relief Team partnered with local organizations to transport pets who were already in shelters before the floods began.
This action creates space for animals recently displaced by the flash floods. It also allows local resources to concentrate on reuniting families with their cherished pets.
On Monday evening, 22 dogs were welcomed at PAWS Chicago. In the coming weeks, these dogs will receive medical treatment and vaccinations before they find their permanent homes.

The dogs arrived at the PAWS Chicago Kocourek Medical Center where they will be evaluated before finding a home.
On Wednesday, PAWS is expecting to welcome dozens of dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens from Austin Pets Alive!
“PAWS has been responding to natural disasters for almost 20 years, beginning with Hurricane Katrina, and our Chicago community continues to rally to assist pets and people in emergencies,” stated Celene Mielcarek, Head of Program Operations at PAWS Chicago.
