Brandon Mumme, 43, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault for allegedly threatening minors.
The event took place around 5:30 p.m. when minors informed the police that they were riding electric scooters in the parking area of Clinton Elementary School, situated in the 700 block of Mill Street.
They said a driver pulled into the parking lot, cut them off and was followed by an argument, police said.
The minors told police they later came back to take a photo of the license plate when Mumme came out of the building.
According to the school district, the individual involved, Mumme, was part of the evening cleaning staff employed by the contracted company HES. He was not directly employed by the school district.
Mumme then allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and threatened the minors.
The minors ran off and called 911.
Mumme was arrested near his vehicle. Police said he allegedly admitted to pulling out the knife and chasing the minors.
He now faces charges for aggravated assault on public property and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Mumme has been prohibited from entering any School District U-46 property.
