The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, with the help of US Marshals, apprehended Josiah Martinez, 24, on Monday. He is wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities have announced an arrest linked to the fatal shooting at Copeland’s of New Orleans in Jacksonville that took place in June.

Josiah Martinez, 24, was arrested Monday on a warrant with a second-degree murder charge.

Kenneth Mobley, who was poised to celebrate his 39th birthday on June 23, a little over a week after the June 11 shooting, was remembered by friends and family as someone full of energy and positivity.

When officers reached the scene, Mobley was suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared dead.

On the day Mobley was murdered, several individuals were taken into custody. According to JSO, three people were held as suspects, and two witnesses were interviewed by police regarding the incident.

According to JSO, Mobley was at the restaurant to “meet someone,” but the sheriff’s office has not said what the purpose of the meeting was.
