BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham police are investigating an overnight homicide on 4th Court West.

BPD reports that officers responded to a call about a break-in and shooting at a residence just before midnight on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found an adult male deceased from a gunshot wound.

Initial investigations reveal that the deceased arrived at an old friend’s house, where he got into an altercation with another man who was already present. During the confrontation, gunshots were exchanged, resulting in the death of the newcomer. The man involved in the incident has stayed at the location and is being detained for questioning.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 33-year-old Tedarius Montez Seawright.
