CHICAGO (WGN) On Saturday, three bodies were discovered in Lake Michigan on the South Side of Chicago, initiating investigations into their deaths and leaving many questions unanswered.

As reported by Chicago police, the first body was found just prior to 11:30 a.m. close to 57th Street Beach on the 5700 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Woodlawn.

Police said a baby girl died after divers pulled her from the water near a South Side beach.

The circumstances leading to this tragic event remain unclear, but officers stated that a female infant was declared dead at the location soon after divers retrieved her from the water.

Rescue attempts included multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard.

“They brought her in, and they came up on the dock to put her on the stretcher. Her little hands were so stiff,” one witness told WGN-TV.

“She was purple and the foam was all in her nose, all over her lips, and all of the women just hollered,” said another witness.

WGN-TV has recently learned that first responders recovered a second and third body in nearby waters, adding to the devastation felt by witnesses.

A 31-year-old woman was pulled out of the water this afternoon near 63rd Street. Divers also pulled a 6-year-old boy near the 63rd Street Beach.

Neither survived.

Saturday evening, Chicago police told WGN-TV that all three incidents appear to be related and likely stem from a domestic dispute.

“It just hits close to home,” said a man named Ronald, who declined to give his last name.

Detectives are now conducting a death investigation, and autopsy results are pending.
