Quornelius Radford’s address was listed on a DUI citation in May as Jacksonville, Florida.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to police records, the Army sergeant who allegedly opened fire and wounded five fellow soldiers at Fort Stewart is from Jacksonville.

Army authorities identified the suspect in the shooting as Quornelius Radford, a 28-year-old logistics sergeant with no combat experience, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas, Fort Stewart’s commanding officer.

Officials had previously confirmed Radford had “ties to Florida.”

Lubas mentioned that Radford had received a DUI charge locally in May. Documents from the Georgia Department of Public Safety indicate he faced penalties for DUI and failing to obey traffic-control devices, listing his address at the time on Village Pond Circle in Jacksonville.

Lubus said Radford’s superiors in the Army were not aware of the DUI.

Radford is accused of using his personal weapon for the shooting on base. Lubas stated that an investigation is underway to determine how this occurred. Radford is currently detained by the Army Investigations Division and is being questioned.

The five soldiers who were shot are now stable and expected to be OK, with three requiring surgery, according to Lubus.
