Man dead after shooting on Jacksonville's Southside, police say

The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after a shooting on the city’s Southside Saturday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to the police, officers responded to a call about a shooting incident at around 9 p.m. on Saturday in the 3200 block of Dorothea Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man who had sustained several gunshot injuries.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

JSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units launched an investigation with detectives interviewing a witness. The investigation is a collaborative effort involving the State Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing and the classification is pending.
